RecUp - Record to the Cloud App Reviews

Heads up!

This program works well for what it does but is very limited. If you have no use for naming your recordings or pausing in the middle of them then this app is great. Unfortunately I need to name my files and sometimes pause during my recordings making this app completely useless to me. So 2 stars because it was not well enough described to save me 2 dollars. I would have never thought a recording program would auto name your files and not give you the option.

Better than ever

Ive used & loved the last version of Dropvox since the first day I found it. This update makes it better than ever: smooth, fast & simple. Record-on-launch and graceful handling of no-network situations make this a home screen app for sure.

Awesome new version!

I had actually just found a new app for voice recording because I wanted a pause button. Low and behold, the makers of Dropbox totally update their app and add a pause button! I really do love this app and its integration with Dropbox. Nice job.

Happy for the 2.0 update

Well done. Always a solid experience using this app. Ive never had any trouble with it.

A composers dream

This brilliant little app recorded almost a thousand music ideas for me, whether Im at a studio, in hollidays or travelling...and it never let me down. Easy, reliable and beautifully designed. Thank you, irradiated guys!

Simple and powerful

Ive had it for ages and its only gotten better.

Crystal clear recording

Extremely handy for sharing recordings to students, which is why I bought it. Much, much clearer recording than its dropbox linked competition.

Simple. Perfect. Thank you!

I’ve been using Dropvox almost since it came out I think, and there are songs that exist now because of this simple and easy to use app. I click the big red button, it records, and then gets safely tucked away in my Dropbox. The sound quality is just fine and the fact that there are no editing or multitrack features keeps me focused on recording my ideas, not futzing with the recording. I love it! I also like the new update. I often had to convert the audio to mp3 to send to others, so the fact that it does it for me is even better. I don’t care if perhaps a little fidelity is lost. If I care, I use Logic and a real microphone, not my iPhone, but this app has recorded jam sessions that would have been lost without it and I’m just happy to have them now regardless of the sound quality. Which is not so say that it’s bad - it sounds fine to me. Thank you!

Meh

MP3?! I want AAC back: its higher quality given the same bit rate, and at this point almost as ubiquitous. At least give a choice rather than downgrading everyone. Also, the app still doesnt allow me to cancel a recording I dont want so it doesnt upload and waste bandwidth. Its a very nice and minimalistic app otherwise, but these two issues really kill its value.

No title option

No option to name recording and the ONLY way to do it in Dropbox mobile is on the website. You cant rename anything in the Dropbox app. Wasted $2

Hands down BEST app Ive ever used.

$2 App $2000 Value Finding the answer to DropBox voice memo inadequacies: Priceless! Ive been using DropVox for over a year and I couldnt be more happy. I use it to record and upload business meetings as well as my personal recordings. Its simple, its functional and most importantly, it just stinkin works! With one click you can record and upload voice memos automatically to your DropBox account without fail, every time, no hassle, no headache. Haha, its hard to believe now but I almost didnt buy this app because I wasnt sure if it was worth $2. I couldnt have been more wrong! This app should be at least $10 or $15 and now that Ive used it I would happily pay waaaay more than that. Ive now spent 10 minutes of my life writing this review to let you know how awesome and helpful this app is. If you need it, buy it!! If you think you might need it, buy it!! If you dont need it, why are you still reading this!? Trust me, its worth it... A sincere thank you to everyone that helped make this app!!

Very well designed app

These guys definitely nailed the main function of such an app — get to recording audio as quickly as possible, without tinkering, naming files etc. Option to start recording on app launch is the best illustration of that effort. The only flaw is that it even with “Record in higher quality” setting is enabled, you’re getting 76kbps mp3, which is not a great quality recording. And it’s understandable — they were trying to achieve quick upload times. For those of us, who are willing to compromise upload time, it would be nice to have an option to choose 160 or at least 128kbps quality.

NICE

I have purchased many many apps, I have to admit this one is really good. Well worth the 2-bucks. click record finished. Goes right to dropbox as simple as that. And yes, I can change the title..

Wonderful app!

I use this constantly, its my favorite recorder by far.

simple, effective, easy to use and very useful!

This app does one thing and it does it VERY well. It quickly became my favorite and most used audio recording app. Open the app. Press the big red button to start recording. Press it again to stop, and the audio is automatically uploaded to your DropBox folder of choice. The MP3 audio files are automatically named by date and time, so you dont have to bother with naming right in the moment. Its easy to find the files again later and rename them as desired. I use this app mostly just to take quick audio notes that later get used in my writing. I use it mostly in my iPhone and occasionally on my iPad. Seriously, this is one of the most useful apps Ive found because Im always getting ideas on the go and this is the most effective way to capture those thoughts and not have to worry about how to access them later. Once theyre in DropBox, I can listen to them on any of my devices, take notes, and not have to jump through any hoops to do so.

M4a is better than mp3

The mp3 format takes up way more space compared to the m4a format that was used. Its eating up all my dropbox space. Please give me the option to choose the format.

Simple = Good

The problem with most voice memo/recording apps is remembering to export your files, finding them, and figuring out what is what. This app has one button. Record / Stop. Your file is ready--labeled date and time--resting comfortably and safely in your dropbox. Ive never lost data, and never waited more than a couple seconds to launch.

Simple app ...does what it promises well.... Needs the ability to name recordings in the app ... Great support!

Great app

A must have app. Im a student and I use it all the time to record my classes. The quality of the recording is great, the files are stored in my dropvox so they dont occupy my phones memory.

2.1 is Great!

I use dropvox at least once a day and it’s made a huge impact in the way I work. 2.1 is rock solid and the tweaks are all nicely done. This is the best app to make no fuss recordings that go strait to dropbox. Nothing else comes close (and I’ve tried a ton of them). Great job! Thanks for adding the ‘pause’ option - it makes it nearly the perfect app. The only thing I would request is to have a preference option in settings to go back to way recording worked in Dropvox 1 using AAC rather than mp3. My audio files are now almost twice as large as with using AAC & with spotty cell service it can be hard to upload. I think the move to mp3 as the default record method is smart but please give us the option for AAC too (same quality - smaller file size).
